Sparrowhawk’s leather Artisan, Fiona Ritchie, is a rare master craftsman who hand dyes each premium leather piece, as she makes it.
Working with top quality, full grain, undyed, vegetable tanned russet, Fiona carefully selects each hide for its unique grain character which she believes is as individual as a human fingerprint.
Together with her customer’s personalisation options, hand stitching (2 needle saddle stitch) and unique hand embossing method, her enhanced grain colour finish makes each piece truly individual for her customer.

About Fiona Ritchie
Since 2014 I have worked from my Hunua Farm workshop in rural NZ.
From when I made my first Pilot Logbook Cover at a working tannery in Sydney, True Leather Craftsmanship has been my gold standard for Sparrowhawk.
Since then I have made over 1500 custom made leather pieces, including wallets, journal covers and pilot logbook covers. Each one was made to order, and personalised for its owner.
